As a cat parent, it's important that you keep an eye on your purrfect pet's health EVERYDAY! Check out the reminders below on how to keep your cat happy and healthy!

Remember the Basics

Good food, clean water, and regular vet checkups are the basics to a healthy cat. But there's far more to good cat care than those three basics.

Every night and every morning you send your children to brush their teeth. Just like with your children, dental health is important in your pets.

Keep your cat's teeth healthy with:

  • Daily brushing
  • Annual teeth cleaning by your veterinarian
  • Dental chews ⁽yes, there are chews for cats!⁾, water additives, or dry food designed specifically for removing tartar build-up
The Right Weight

Veterinarians in the UK believe 44% of cats are overweight or obese. At your next wellness check, ask your veterinarian if your cat is a part of this overweight demographic.

If so, be prepared to follow your veterinarian's advice to help your cat lose those pounds. Carrying extra weight can possibly cause joint health issues, along with many other conditions.

Help Them Stay Active

While signs of joint issues can be more visible in dogs, the signs may not be as obvious in cats. Owners should consult their veterinarian if they observe any of the following sign in their cats:

  • Difficulty moving
  • Not grooming
  • Urinating outside of the litter box
  • Depression
  • Not eating
  • Significant changes in weight
Stay Safe from the Creepy-Crawlies

True or False: My cat stays inside, so I don't have to worry about flea and tick issues.
FALSE: Flea and tick prevention is important, no matter how frequently your cat goes outside. Springtime is a great time to get ahead of the problem with preventive care. Talk to your vet about options.

In addition, the bite marks left by both can leave your pet's skin susceptible to infection. So it's best to practice preventative care.

Healthier Cat = Happier Cat

We all want our pets to be happy, no matter what day it is. We also want to keep them healthy. Remember the tips above and your cat(s) may create a special month just for you!
